Picture Perfect

We have shared with you our love for traveling in a previous post. We find the planning process for the trip usually exciting.

We look at the places we would like to visit, the things we plan to do, the hotels, the tourists spots and many more. We could spend weeks planning for a one or two week vacation. We would often imagine ourselves in the location and keep talking about it. The planning gives us a picture of what is to come. That picture in our minds, helps the work days move faster. When stressed at work, we think of our vacation plans and all of a sudden, you just feel this sign of relief and rest. In anticipation of a planned trip, I have often heard people say “It is just my body that is here oh!, my spirit has already traveled”.

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Revelation 21:4 (NKJV)

The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

Revelation 21: 18 – 21 (NKJV)

What a picture! Revelation 21 gives us an accurate picture of our endless vacation, a perfect picture of our future. From what I read, no vacation, location or experience on earth can compare to the sneak peak that Revelation 21 gives us.

I listened to a Pastor recently who said that having a picture of heaven, takes the pressure off living on earth. When he said this, my mind went straight to Stephen.

But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,

Acts 7:55 (NKJV)

Stephen saw a picture of where he was going and with that, nothing else mattered. The angry faces, the stones, his torn flesh and the pain was nothing compared to what he was seeing and where he was going. It took the pressure off him. His focus shifted from things below to things above.

The Bible tells us to ‘set our minds on things above, not on things on the earth’. For we died, and our life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Colossians 3: 2-4 NKJV

If you are in Christ, when you think of Heaven, it should not be with fear, but with joy and excitement of where you are headed. For there is no fear in love, but perfert love casts out all fear and God’s love for us is perfect. The planning process is simple “keep your eyes on Jesus”

If you are not in Christ, then this post is for you. The process is simple as well, but must be genuine. Invite Jesus into your life, He is the ‘way’. Keep your eyes on Him and follow Him.

To all of us, put this perfect picture out there and ‘tag’ people not just to like but to ‘follow’.

We would love to hear from you, so please share your thoughts on this post with us and tell a friend.

The joy of eternal vacation cannot be compared to anything on earth. Reading about the different pearls used for the foundation of the walls gives me so much joy and peace of mind, and most especially to live right for Christ so that I will be qualified for this vacation.
Thank you so much my Pastors for this wonderful reminder. God bless you real good. Happy weekend!
